Minutes of Meeting 22nd September 2011

 

Present:

Matters Arising from Previous Meeting:

Newsletter draft produced and circulated for comments. Everyone volunteered to distribute it before AGM.

 

Treasurers Report:

Balance is £2186.90. Future balance should always be over £1000, but it is projected to fall below this at year end, and there is a 30 Nov deadline to claim more from CC fund. A proposal of spending is needed for this.

Steve will check web hosting costs to see if they can be reduced.

 

Police Update:

Sgt Braun attended NW – police are to operate more flexible shifts and areas, and sharing 2 officers here with 2 at Haywoods will give same coverage.

Spate of burglaries in area and fires lit in Bodmin park bins.

Police surgery at Library on 1st Oct, with free bike marking there.

Silver escort M114J to be reported if seen as linked to burglaries.

 

Local Councillors Update:

 

Ann Edgeller:

Baswich Bridge reported for cracks that may need repair

Stockton Lane fence must be reduced to 1.2m – 3 more weeks to comply.

Traffic surveys at Baswich Lane report OK for Brethren to have premises near ind estate.

Brethren have applied for brick wall and railings along frontage, but initial plan refused.

2 houses in Porlock given longer to comply with planning regs.

Bench in progress – probably installed November.

 

John Francis:

Re-surfacing at Porlock/Baswich Lane junction on work schedule.

Speed signs to be put in different locations according to surveys.

 

Paul Trainor:

There is a planning app for a riding school at Baswich farm. All agreed this should be supported and a letter sent from the BCG in support. Baswich church also has a planning app to sell part of the graveyard to adjacent houses for garden extensions. Covenant means land cannot be used for any development.

 

AGM:

Agenda for forthcoming AGM discussed. MP J Lefroy will attend.

 

Sub-Groups:

Community Cohesion: History event “History at Baswich” at the library very popular and praised. Kim now needs to step down due to work pressures. J Francis proposed comm. event for all groups and areas, but need a successor to Kim. Kim was thanked by the group for her work over the last 12 mths. Perhaps youngsters could help out with Tuesday club.

Safety group: Road surfacing on the work programme

Young People: Halloween event and skateboard park on if negotiations with St Annes church for car park use are OK.

Older people: Tuesday club events confirmed upto December.

 

Other Business:

It was asked if the camera was working properly.
