Minutes of Meeting 24th November 2011

Present:

Jo Bailey, Stephen Case, Peter Graysmith (chair), Ann Edgeller, Paul Trainor, John Francis, Mike Tyson, Pete Glover, PCSO Pete Davies, Kevin Tongue, Brian Garratt, Sarah Davies, Bob Chumley-Roberts.

Matters Arising from Previous Meeting:

None

Treasurers Report:

Balance is £1000 approx. Tuesday group paid for until Christmas.

Police Update:

Poor turnout at the crime prevention evening.

Series of burglaries in area – info packs to be distributed.

Suspicious character around church. Phone 101 if seen.

AGM feedback:

Only 5 feedback forms received on existing issues (i.e. traffic, young people, L Tavern)

Local Councillors Update:

Ann Edgeller:

There is a public mtg about hospital at Walton school on Friday 6pm. A group view on the hospital is needed.

Possibility of a litter pick up.

Metal thefts – smart water could be used to deter.

Lottery fund or community fund could be applied to for older people.

Brethren have applied for brick wall and railings along frontage, but initial plan refused. Dragging on too long.

Bench in progress – to be installed by Christmas.

John Francis:

Housing proposals for police site discussed. Group should write to CC to express its views on scheme and changes to mini roundabouts. Also need a section 106 agreement with planning app for local facilities to be included. P Graysmith will write in to represent the group before deadline of 16^th Dec.

£500 for community engagement project ring-fenced, with £2000 more next year. Baswich is pilot scheme for project, with a community worker to be appointed and possibly based at the church or library for 7 hours per week.

Tuesday club funds must be applied for next year. P Glover will do this on behalf of BCG.

Paul Trainor:

Police mast to stay as application for one on Baswich Lane refused.

Planning app for a riding school at Baswich farm – referred to highways.

Sub-Groups:

Older people: Tuesday club Christmas party on 13th December.

Other Business:

Hospital A&E closure discussed. Group should write letter supporting hospital.
