Minutes of Meeting 21st July 2011

 

Present:

Matters Arising from Previous Meeting:

John Francis and Paul Trainor reported on local police reductions, with letter from chief inspector. Still only 1 PC and 2 PCSOs to cover much larger area than before.

No reply from British Waterways about knotweed, but some recently cleared.

 

Treasurers Report:

Balance is £2186

 

Police Update:

Burglary 21st June in Bodmin Ave – arrest made. 30th June 2 more burglaries in Bodmin and Overhill rd.

Operation to stop and check scrap merchant licences and horns – recordings not allowed. Of 6 in area 2 are not legal.

Bike marking kit available. Could have event at church in August and charge for marking.

Van on carpark to be removed.

 

Local Councillors Update:

 

Ann Edgeller:

Planning app extension for houses behind Newquay appealed and rejected.

Stockton Lane fence must be reduced to 1.2m.

Lynton tavern car park resurfaced by council at £6000 cost.

Flower beds outside shops weeded, and paving repaired. Hedge cut at Saxonfields and bin installed.

Seat to be installed near notice board free by borough (ex Market Sq seat in August).

Pilot scheme for inter-generational worker to go ahead with funding from John Francis – will work to establish needs and making people aware of activities. Eleanor to be involved in this.

 

John Francis:

Tuesday club closed till Sept. Funding needed and £400 agreed from BCG. J Francis will put £1000 into BCG fund next April to cover further payments for the club until March 2012, with thanks from the group.

Highways to surface crossing at WX and Radford Bank.

320 houses to be approved at police HQ, with assoc funds to be spent locally. Cedar trees have preservation order.

Speed signs could be purchased and located in different places, and bigger warning signs are needed on bridges.

 

AGM:

Invite Mp and Mike Cunningham. Possible presentation on local plan. AGM needs promoting. Newsletter would be useful, but where would content come from – there is little new for website. New content needed for both.

 

Sub-Groups:

Community Cohesion: History event “History at Baswich” at the library on 5-10th Sept, with exhibition and photos from history soc. Friday coffee morning on 9th Sept will be a reminiscence event. On the 10th there will be refreshments at the library.

 

Other Business:

Wildwood park funday is on 4th Sept.

Is the Bt phonebox still needed – could ask at the AGM
